Big White has a modern alpine village, offering the ultimate in skier convenience! Big White's Main Street is actually a ski run, where guests can ski to their doorstep or take a stroll through the village where a variety of shopping, dining, pubs and après entertainments await. Big White accommodations include fine hotels, luxury townhomes, condominium apartments, mountain chalets and log cabins making up over 15,000 on-mountain beds, all with ski-to/ski-from convenience.
New to Big White Resort this year is a state-of-the-art six-passenger chairlift constructed at the base of the Ridge area. The Snow Ghost Express, named for the legendary snow covered trees of Big White's alpine area, will be the longest six-passenger chair in Canada - 6190 feet, (1862 metres) long, and will whisk skiers and riders to the top in just under six minutes. Situated parallel to the current Ridge Rocket Express, the Snow Ghost will service Big White's most popular runs and terrain. The two lifts combined will generate an uphill capacity of 5,400 skiers per hour (ten passengers every seven seconds) and increases the hourly lift capacity to an impressive 28,000 riders per hour. Big White's 16-lift inventory is one of the most modern, comfortable, and quickest in North America.
When the chairlifts close, the resort comes alive with exciting activities for all ages. Join in the weekly torchlight parade, watch the fireworks spectacular, win prizes at the kids' carnival night, and meet new friends at the "Taste of Big White" or around the open-air fire pits. Mom and dad can relax and enjoy one of the many restaurants or pubs while the kids have pizza and a movie or go ice-skating and tubing. Indulge in a soothing massage or esthetics treatment, and find the perfect gift, logo wear or ski/board equipment in one of the many retail outlets.
Big White Ski Resort is located in the Okanagan, southeast of Kelowna. From Kelowna, take Highway 33 southeast for about 40 km and turn east onto the 23 km side road up the mountain.
